Mission Statement

Hebrews 10:32-39 (NKJV)

But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings:  partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated;  for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven.  Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.  for you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:  "For yet a little while,  And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.  Now the just shall live by faith;  But if anyone draws back,  My soul has no pleasure in him."  But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Specifically, Set Apart Ministries mission statement has been

  • to come alongside those who were afflicted,
  • to experience the affliction along with them,
  • to teach about how to come alongside those with trauma backgrounds, and
  • to learn to persevere toward our restoration, both personal and corporate, of the entire Body of believers.

Set Apart Ministries, Inc. (SAM) began as an off shoot of Still Waters, Inc. of Green Bay, which was a state certified mental health outpatient clinic until 2006 when Barb Klika downsized to a small home based life coaching practice.

Since the early 90’s, people with severe ritualistic trauma backgrounds began finding their way to Still Waters clinic.  Their needs were intense, both psychologically and spiritually. Many of their needs simply could not be met in either a church or a mental health clinic setting but required a blending of services.

After many years of trying to meet their needs as much as possible, a season of prayer and fasting led to direction to Barb Klika to found this separate organization, with the name, Set Apart Ministries, and the mission statement from Hebrews as above.

As the ministry developed in the first few years some things became more evident and expanded.

1)    It is not only severe trauma but also more “normal” traumatic incidents in people’s past that hinders their restoration and maturity in Messiah. Working toward maturity is a personal and community responsibility.

2)    As we delved more deeply into our Hebraic Heritage, we realized that all of us were coming out of pagan practices to one degree or another, thus our declaration of our stance as a Messianic ministry. In an enlarging of our borders, we understood that we were also a part of helping to restore the way to the ancient paths as spoken of by the prophets; primarily to those who were in spiritual exile and now hearing the call to return. This includes the need to reach out to people around the world to share what we learn.

3)    The very context of community, Torah pursuant community, is a primary place of restoration as all strive to draw near to Messiah Yeshua and become like Him.

Our mission as we understand it now is to strive toward being that local community that endures and encourages one another in our afflictions toward maturity through Messiah centered worship, prayer, study, fellowship and prayerful counsel/consultation.

We also desire to present what we learn in this community context and process to the larger Body of Messiah for their growth and restoration as we are all preparing to meet our Messiah Yeshua on His return.
